Education & Experience
The founder of Bishop Law Offices, P.C., William D. (Bill) Bishop, has been practicing law for more than 25 years. He grew up in Oregon and attended Willamette University in Salem as a double major – graduating with honors in both Political Science and Psychology. While in college, Bill received numerous scholarships and was a member of numerous honor societies, including Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also received All-American and Academic All-American Wrestling honors during college. Mr. Bishop brings this same dedication and competitive nature to the courtroom.
Mr. Bishop graduated from Arizona State University College of Law. During law school, Bill graduated in the top portion of his class, and was selected as a member of the National Moot Court Team. Mr. Bishop received the honor of the Order of Barristers for outstanding oral advocacy. After law school, Mr. Bishop worked for large downtown law firms, practicing both commercial litigation and family law. Soon thereafter, he began to focus primarily in the area of family law and divorce. His diverse background and commercial litigation experience have given him an advantage over many other family law attorneys, especially with regard to complex property and financial matters.

Unlike many attorneys, Bill doesn’t shy away from contested custody cases. Thanks to his background in psychology and his devotion to assisting people with their child custody and parenting time issues, he is known to deal with custody issues head on. When necessary, Mr. Bishop involves mental health experts in the custody process, especially when the other parent suffers from certain psychological issues or is attempting to alienate the children against his client. As a result of his reputation as a professional, thorough and assertive trial attorney, Mr. Bishop receives numerous referrals from family law attorneys, as well as colleagues from other practice areas.

A firm believer in making the legal system better and in serving the community, Arizona family law attorney Bill Bishop was previously an attorney liaison for the Superior Court Mental Health Committee. He has also served as the chairperson of the Maricopa County Bar Association Family Law Section. Mr. Bishop was selected as a member of the State Bar of Arizona Family Law Section Executive Council. Through his involvement with the State Bar Family Law Executive Council, Mr. Bishop is involved with providing continuing education to other family law attorneys, working on statewide family law legislation and summarizing family law cases which have statewide importance. Mr. Bishop volunteers at the Women’s Fresh Start Resource Center and regularly chairs and speaks at a number of family law seminars for attorneys and for the public.
